Soul Calibur 4

I finally got my hands on Soul Calibur 4. Soul Calibur 2 was the first game I played competitively so I'm excited to try out the newest installment in the series. My main character in Soul Calibur 2 and 3 was Mitsurugi.

My first impression of Mitsu is that he lacks damage in this game compared to previous games and other characters in SC4 like Cervantes. Most of his mid launchers or knockdowns are unsafe on block. His new 2k,b by itself does pitiful damage but seems to offer some juggle potential or good wakes.

The best combo I've found so far from his staple launcher is:

3b, 236[b]{1}, 33b

That you have to charge the 236[b] long enough to get the ground spike but short enough to combo. I'm not sure if it is fully guaranteed yet as it doesn't register as a 3 hit combo but it seemed to be inescapable with the little bit of testing we did in practice mode.

Cervantes and Amy seem to posses a lot of top tier right qualities. There is still a lot to learn about this game and it will be interesting to see how it evolves.

If anyone is interested in competitive play the US community for this game lives at http://www.caliburforum.com where I go by the name Jaeger.
